Last year I gave up on Me Made May after a week, on the one hand my pledge was too severe and on the other hand I wasn’t feeling to good at the time. Turned out I wasn’t feeling well because I was pregnant. This year, I’m not pregnant (although, I wish I was :D) and I’m keeping it real with my pledge. When sewing I tend to stick to the easier patterns because I want to have something new with minimum effort 🙂 It hasn’t changed with the baby. One thing that has changed is that I pay more … Continue reading #MMMay14
I accidentally found myself in a thrift store today. Accidentally as in: “We happened to walk past so went in.” I found some seriously gorgeous things! 1. Entire rolls of rickrack. Could.not.resist. There is no such thing as too much rickrack in one’s stash 🙂 (€14,5 for all) 2. I usually don’t buy second hand shoes but these were brand new sandals similar to the ones I put in my Capsule Wardrobe. (€7,5) 3. Same goes for these pumps. Brand new and similar to the ones I wanted! (€9) All in all I’m very happy with my finds! Continue reading The One with the Thrift Store Treasures
If there is one thing I love, it’s an infinity scarf. They are so easy to wear and never fall off. I’ve had the scarf on the left for a few years now and I love wearing it in Spring and Autumn. It really makes a solid outfit pop. Only problem is that it doesn’t match a lot of my clothes (yet, I’ve got a matching Lady Skater planned) So today I was in dire need of a quick project and my precious fabric was the answer. My 9m bolt were actually 2 pieces. One 7,20m and the other 1,80m. … Continue reading The One with the Perfect Scarf
Last week I chose my Capsule Wardrobe and I’m very excited about it. This week we had to choose our Capsule Palette based on the colours we chose in week 6. Before I did that I took a long hard look at my colours and decided to re-divide my colours because I realised that some colours where in the wrong category. Especially the true neutrals. Some nearly neutrals are actually true neutrals and can be used for more than just camis and leggings. Here are the new categories: Choosing my Capsule Palette however wasn’t as easy as I thought it … Continue reading Wardrobe Architect Week 10
Today I went to an exhibition about 60 years of television with two co-workers/friends and the baby. More about the exhibition in a later post cause I had the opportunity to take some pictures of a recent make! But I also had the opportunity to visit a lovely fabric store, which I only get to visit about once a year cause it is is quite far from home. I walked out with two remnants and an entire bolt 🙂 Top left: a white and blue striped sweaterknit which will make a great comfy summer cardigan. Top right: a floral jersey … Continue reading The One where I bought the entire bolt!
In week 9 it’s time to review the silhouettes we created in week 4. I have to admit that the ones I created back then aren’t really fit to run around with a baby, nor are they fit to go back to work and they were kind of wintery. After careful consideration I updated them into these 5 silhouettes. This will serve as a base for my Spring/Summer 2014 Capsule Wardrobe. I’m really excited about these. I bought 3 new pairs of jeans two weeks ago (I really needed them and didn’t have time to sew them) and I’ve got … Continue reading Wardrobe Architect Week 9
This week was all about hair, make-up and beauty. Not an easy one to think about because what we want is certainly not always what we have time nor the skills for 🙂 Hair: My husband would love me to have Zooey Deschanel hair. And I can’t say I haven’t tried it but since I haven’t got it in me anymore to let it grow out, I’ve had to resort to extensions. But they require so.much.care that I always gave up after a few weeks. Seriously, I’d choose 10 more minutes of sleep over a blow dry anyday. I’ve had … Continue reading Wardrobe Architect Week 8
